Classroom Activities

Ee is for elephants, Eskimos and excitement.  This week we worked with the letter Ee.  We read a story about Elmer who is an elephant with patchwork colors.  The children listened to the story Mama Do You Love Me?, this is a story about an Eskimo child and her mother.   Ee is also for excitement and in Kindergarten, we have experienced plenty of it.  All the children looked wonderful in their Halloween costumes and the parade was extraordinary!  I am so proud of them and their singing was great.  In Math, we linked elephants to help us learn how to count up to 10 and focused on making the numeral 9.  I am looking forward to meeting with you for parent-teacher conferences.  In Handwriting, we practiced the letter Ee.  Please encourage your child while reading to you to point to each word.  Our new sight word is the.  The high frequency (sight words) on our Word Wall are: I, am, have, like, the, have and a.  Have your child look for these words in books and on signs.  The students learned that Ee is a vowel and makes two different sounds.  Ask your kindergartner about Ms E (letter person) and Mr. Ed the horse and his bridle. The children enjoyed listening to a Jungle Halloween story and having a Jungle parade with animal masks!

Parent Conferences are on November 16th and 17th, there is no school on these days. The children do not have school on Friday, November 10th (Veteran’s Day).  I am so grateful to our room parents and volunteers who helped make our Halloween party such a success.  All the kindergartners had a terrific time.  We go outside daily so please dress your child accordingly for the ever-changing weather.  It is helpful to have all clothing labeled.   We are in need of extra snacks for our classroom.  The winner of the PTA Fall Gift Basket Fundraiser will be announced on November 17th at 3PM.  The theme for our Basket is Ice Cream Sundaes.           Have a super weekend!

                                                                             Sincerely, Mrs. Curro
